كاميرا مراقبة بالأشعة تحت الحمراء من طراز «وولونغ باندا» ذات تصميم مموه
For an ongoing giant panda field study, a 4×6m observation station was constructed. A camouflage net covered the shelter, with local bamboo and moss woven in. Small observation slits were cut for cameras, and the net’s matte, sound-dampening fabric ensured the pandas remained unaware of the hide’s presence.

An infrared monitoring hide was needed in Wolong to observe wild panda behavior. A portable 4m × 6m shelter was built with carbon-fiber poles. This structure was fully covered with a silent, jungle-pattern net. On the outside, researchers attached fresh bamboo shoots and moss from the area, giving the hide a lifelike, organic texture.
Tiny slits were created at camera positions. These slits were just large enough for lenses, and the surrounding net was pinned so no visible gap was present. The team verified that the net was truly noise-free; even a gentle brush would not rustle or crinkle. This is critical, as pandas are easily startled by sound.
During observation periods, the pandas showed no signs of noticing the hide. Infrared cameras recorded undisturbed behavior. The net’s fabric also blocked direct sunlight, preventing thermal hotspots. Over weeks of monitoring, the hide remained effective, merging into the forest floor seamlessly. This project ensured researchers could collect data continuously without disrupting the animals or being detected.
