Army High-Altitude Field Camouflage

Más información Details

This project camouflaged a camp in a 4000m snowfield. Each tent and vehicle was individually covered using desert-pattern nets. Edges were secured and spaces created to allow drainage and airflow, ensuring a long-term field hiding solution.

High-altitude army field camp concealed with snow and desert camouflage nets

In a high-altitude plateau (above 4,000m), an Army field camp needed camouflage under harsh conditions (snow, wind, cold). Instead of covering tents en masse, each tent and vehicle was treated as an individual module. Engineers fitted a dome-shaped net over each shelter, using heavy-duty tent clips to maintain shape. The nets were desert-color on one side and snow-pattern on the other. For this environment, the desert-yellow side faced outward to match the bare earth, while the snow-white inner side faced sky to minimize contrast.

All net edges were tightly anchored: heavy rocks and ground anchors held them against the gales. In places where water drainage was needed (around melted snow), the teams fashioned slight slopes in the nets so that water would run off. Ventilation gaps were left at tent openings to ensure airflow and prevent moisture buildup. The result was a well-blended encampment. Even from a distance, the tents looked like natural humps on the landscape.

A multi-spectral camouflage net was used, which repels snow glare in visible light and also diffuses the heat signature. A thorough check confirmed that no bright or dark patches gave away human presence. Satellite imagery captured afterward showed only faint shapes consistent with natural terrain. The solution effectively concealed the camp for the duration of its deployment, demonstrating a reliable method for mountain camouflage operations.
