Mobile missile launch units and decoys were hidden under a system of camouflage nets. The nets were carefully layered and secured to obscure profiles. Both infrared and optical detection were significantly reduced.

A temporary missile launch site was established in a remote field. The team’s priority was to conceal the launch vehicles and any decoys. Each real missile truck was covered under multiple net layers of a camouflage pattern that matched the dry vegetation. Next to each was a life-size inflatable missile launcher. The decoys, already painted in dull tones, were fully wrapped in identical netting to prevent observers from telling them apart.
The top nets were chosen to diffuse sunlight and break up shapes. To keep everything taut, ropes were attached to tire rims and stabilizing outriggers. Small vents in the nets allowed engine shafts to remain cool without detectable gaps. Infrared sensors calibrated post-deployment showed an even heat profile.
Aerial overflight confirmed success: the launch site looked like a series of mounded dark shapes under a mottled blanket. The uniform pattern meant it was difficult to pinpoint active vehicles. An intelligence review concluded that both real and dummy launchers were effectively camouflaged, significantly improving the site’s survivability under enemy surveillance.
