At a photovoltaic mine, all steep rocky faces and spoil piles were covered with green planting nets. Hydroseed was applied beneath the nets to promote vegetation growth. This concealed the scarred land and prepared it for full ecological restoration.

The project involved a photovoltaic power station built on a former open-pit mine. The construction left behind steep barren slopes and spoil piles. To restore the landscape, teams installed camouflage nets printed with realistic vegetation patterns over the rock faces. These nets were fully anchored to the ground. Beneath them, hydroseed (grass and wildflower seeds with binding agents) was broadcast to promote regrowth under sheltered conditions.

 

Temporary stockpiles of equipment and materials at the site were also draped with the green nets. This not only hid them visually but also protected surrounding soil from dust. For the array itself, any unused soil or gravel areas around solar panels were masked with nets until planting crews completed cover crops.

 

After deployment, the once stark gray rocks now appeared as green-clad slopes. Aerial surveys showed the site blending into the hillside. By allowing seeds to germinate under the netting, the project accelerated the revegetation process. The camouflage had a dual purpose: it hid earthworks immediately, and aided nature in reclaiming the site long-term. The result satisfied environmental impact requirements for post-mining restoration.
